This is the story of Pakefield, south end of Lowestoft and it’s church. It was written by B.P.W.Stather Hunt, Rector of Pakefield, Hon. Canon of Norwich Cathedral, Alderman of the Borough of Lowestoft and a County Councillor.

The writer says this book was written from his love of the subject and not an expert. This is a fascinating history of Pakefield through the ages, from ancient to Saxon through to the nineteenth century and the coast erosion. After the bombing during the Second World War the church was rebuilt and there is information on this subject. There is also an appendix at the end of the book with details of Rectors, Subsidies etc.

Paperback book with built-in dust jacket. Published in 1953. 202 pages with line drawings. 14 x 21.5 cms
